An international comedy TV show has begun filming in Canberra recently.
Streets around the shops in the inner-north suburb of Lyneham have been closed at times as a result.
Previously, details about the show remained scarce as producers put out the call for extras to appear in the series.
However, now we can reveal what’s being filmed in Canberra:
The 8-part series titled ‘Austin’ will air on the ABC and features the acting debut of Love on the Spectrum’s fan-favourite, Michael Theo.
He’ll star alongside two renowned UK actors, Ben Miller and Sally Phillips.
Here’s what we’ve been told about the show:
When much-loved children’s author Julian Hartswood (Ben Miller) inadvertently causes a social media storm, his career and that of his illustrator wife Ingrid (Sally Phillips) appears to be over. That is until Austin (Michael Theo), the neurodivergent son that Julian never knew existed, turns up out of the blue.
Could embracing this modern nuclear family be Julian’s route back from cancellation? Will Ingrid forgive him? One thing is for certain: if Julian thinks Austin is going to be a push over, he’s in for a rude awakening.
Filming is expected to continue until December with the show shot entirely in the ACT, except for one week of filming in the UK.
