South Australia is looking at Australian-first legislation to block kids under the age of 14 from accessing the likes of TikTok and Instagram.
A former High Court chief justice has been appointed to examine the legal pathways needed to impose a social media ban on kids, and how the ban could be enforced.
Hit 104.7’s Wilko & Courts spoke to Dr Vivienne Lewis, Associate Professor of Psychology from the University of Canberra about the possibility of a social media ban for children.
Dr Lewis says the human brain is not fully developed until we’re 25 years of age and discusses both the positive and negative impacts of social media on children.
