It’s a celebration of Japanese culture tomorrow, with martial arts demonstrations, lantern making, origami, food stalls, and special drinks all on offer at tomorrow’s Nara Candle Festival!

Over 2,000 candles will be lighting up Nara Peace Park to mark a very special milestone, as we celebrate 30 years of the sister city relationship between Canberra and Nara.

We officially became sister cities with Nara on the 26th of October 1993, while the Candle festival started as a tribute to our sister city in 2003.

Some special guests will be brightening up the festival this year, with the Mayor of Nara and the Ambassador of Japan joining in on the festivities.
