You know that couple who are a bit of a hassle to invite to your dinner party? You know the one who’s a vegetarian and their other half who manages a severe gluten allergy? They’re fun, but you just have to concentrate extra hard with the food prep at the party.

My work wife Gabi and I know this situation all too well because we’re “that couple” (in the work sense). I’m the vego and she’s the celiac sufferer… And we know we’re a bit of a nuisance when it comes to catering for us.

So when it comes to road testing any menu, we know the venue is going to have their work cut out for them.

The reason we know their menu is especially good is that they don’t cater exclusively to the gluten-free and vegetarian crowd… in fact, far from it. They have all the steaks, burgers and seafood you could want.

The fact that amongst this lineup, we could feast (and I mean “feast”) on so much that’s so tasty and still fall within our dietary demands…means they’re doing everything right.

So the food was awesome! It doesn’t hurt that the tap beer choices were more than you’ll ever need and the venue fit-out is world-class. Plus, the outdoor sitting area also features a kids’ play zone… So if you’re wondering where to take your next Sunday session (or any day/night, for that matter), we’ve taken her for a road test, and Casey Jones is guaranteed not to disappoint!
