Is This Canberra’s Most Exhilarating New Outdoor Experience?
How good was Tarzan?
I know I’m not alone in thinking as a kid that the only way I wanted to navigate my way through a jungle was by swinging on vines.
Fast forward a few years, trade that jungle for a forest and swap those vines for a zipline and I finally got to realise a dream.
Hidden amongst the towering trees of Majura Pines, tucked up behind Mount Majura Vineyard is Treetops Adventure Canberra’s newest course.
I first heard about Treetops Adventure Canberra after one of my daughters mate’s invited her to a birthday experience and I soon discovered the destination’s legendary reputation amongst other parents and their kids.
So to say I felt privileged to be the first person invited onto their newest course would be an understatement.
The previous courses that have made Treetops Adventure famous feature swinging bridges, cargo nets, tightropes and more fun stuff than i can remember.
The funnest stuff however? Ziplines!
So naturally the new course is comprised ENTIRELY OF ZIPLINES!
I wish I could tell you how many ziplines, but after climbing, climbing and climbing some more to the first platform, latching on, launching and literally flying high above the forest floor…the adrenaline rush eliminated any ability I might have had to retain important stuff like numbers.
But there is no forgetting the raw unadulterated fun I experienced and that I guessed Tarzan must have had all those years ago.
This may be the single most exhilarating outdoor activity in Canberra.
Like so many things in life that are made better with friends, Tree Tops Adventures new Zip Line course is no exception either.
Traversing, climbing and flying through one complete circuit of the course over a period of approximately three quarters of an hour with Producer Chelsea and Baby Wes (I’m sure I slowed them down) added the laughs, mutual support and memorable moments that takes a world class experience like this to another level.
As more experienced zipliners (which I assume is what zipline guys are called) take on the course and publish reviews, I’m sure you will learn more about height, speed and distance of various parts of the course…but as a regular dad climbing and ziplining through a forest, I can tell you it was plenty high, fast – but not too fast and the longest single Zip line distance between two platforms was a massive 90 meters!
I guess I retained one number.
One other thing. Treetop Canberra is directly below a flight path…and I’ll never forget at one stage the perfect fluke timing of zip lining through the Majura Pines and looking up to a Jetstar Airbus A320 above the forest canopy, midway through it’s ascent from Canberra Airport! AWESOME!
So if you’re seeking adventure with mates or family, you can confidently move Treetop Adventure Canberra to the top of list.
