Madonna exhibition opens in Canberra

It’s true what Madonna has famously said, we really do live in a ‘material world’.
That’s exactly the idea behind a new exhibition in Canberra, celebrating 40 years of the international music icon.
A collection of the merchandise featuring the hit maker over the past 4 decades will be on display at the Canberra Museum and Gallery as part of the Madonna40: A Celebration exhibit.
It features autographed pieces, tour merchandise, promotional items, clothing, posters, printer’s proofs, theatre memorabilia, magazine covers and rare photographs.
The items on display, just a small slice of Canberran and long-time Madonna fan, Jerry Kirbell’s own personal collection – representing Madonna’s truly global reach.
Jerry has been collecting Madonna memorabilia, including clothing, promotional items, film and theatre ephemera, and rare photographs since 1984, and runs the ‘occasional’ fanzine ‘It’s All About Flirting’ and is as shocked as everyone else about how much he has managed to hoard.
Madonna40: A Celebration is on display at the Canberra Museum and Gallery 14 October 2023 – 3 March 2024.
