Monopoly Hits the Slopes with a Snowy Mountains Edition
A special Snowy Mountains edition of Monopoly has launched (July 11) at the Banjo Paterson Inn in Jindabyne, celebrating the region’s iconic ski culture and community spirit, and there’s a strong local link for Canberrans to be proud of. The limited-edition board game is designed to reflect the unique charm of the Snowy Mountains while raising funds for local causes, including The Community Chest (Cooma), Snowy Mountains Wildlife Rescue (LAOKO), and regional ski patrols. It’s a fun and nostalgic way to support the high-country locals, and many Canberrans connect with each winter.
Canberrans heading to the slopes can grab a copy from Cooma Community Bank, the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre, or even Perisher and Thredbo from July 14. For those staying put, it will also be available online via the Service One website. The game features local playing pieces like a skier, snowboarder, Thredbo Gondola, and the new Perisher 6-seater. The game also swaps in regional icons like Snowy Hydro and Red Energy for utilities. Scenic shots from a local photo competition are featured on the board, making it a true collector’s item and a love letter to one of Australia’s most beloved alpine regions.
