After years of waiting Canberra, Australia’s Capital City, finally lays claim to its very own edition of the famed board game Monopoly.

It comes after a number of editions have been released in other Aussie cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide & Perth…even the likes of Wollongong, Geelong, Townsville and Wagga Wagga already have their own boards.

Now, it’s Canberra’s time to shine with 22 iconic locations making up the squares on the board alongside localised utilities, chance and community chest cards and four ‘local icons’ taking the place of the train stations in the original game.

Dale Hackett from Winning Moves, the team behind the local editions of the game, said each city board is like a time capsule of sorts.

“We’ve been doing this globally for 22 years and we’ve never updated an edition before, so it puts a bit more pressure on us to make sure it stands the test of time but it it is an iconic piece of history.”
