You may know the word ‘girt’ from our National Anthem (e.g. ‘our home is girt by sea’). But it’s been in the press this week because we think that being ‘girt by sea’ is the reason  why our swimmers are so good at the Games.

But it’s also been dubbed our ‘least sexy’ word. And for good reason.
