Rolling one-hour stoppages are continuing across ACT public schools this week as teachers push for action on staffing, workloads and classroom pressures.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith told Kristen and Nige that staff shortages are making it harder for schools to replace absent teachers, contributing to more split and collapsed classes.

She said progress had been made on pay and workload issues, with the government pushing to reach an agreement that can go to a ballot this year.

Different schools will be affected each day between 8.30am and 9.30am. Families should check communications from their school or the ACT Government education website for details.
