Canberra has a new world record holder, and this is one to be loud and proud of.
Joe, the official town crier for Canberra and Queanbeyan, has officially become the loudest man in the world after recording a massive 122.4 decibels!
For context, Joe said that makes him louder than a KISS concert and maybe even a military jet taking off.
The Gordon local admitted it is a pretty wild turn of events, especially considering he was once a shy kid at school.
Breaking the record was not as simple as just yelling into the void, either. Joe had to organise sound engineers, calibrated equipment, witnesses and video evidence, all for one very loud word.
That word?
“Now.”
The previous record had stood for 33 years, held by a school teacher in Ireland who, fittingly, shouted the word “quiet.”
