Picture this – you’re out at a pub, or maybe at a wedding, or an end of sporting season event and you hear the opening riff of Daddy Cool’s Eagle Rock. 

Before Ross Wilson wails the very first lyrics – “Now listen…” – all those on the dance floor have started to unbuckle their belts and their pants have dropped to the ground. They proceed to dance with their pants around their ankles for the rest of the 1971 hit.

It’s an Aussie tradition at this point, with disputes about where it started, but one thing is for sure – Daddy Cool did NOT instigate the trend.
