Fun Scrubs Allegedly Banned At Both Canberra Hospitals

Medical professionals like doctors and nurses are some of the most important people in our community. If this is you, thank you so much for all the work that you do.

We were disappointed to come across a post on the Canberra reddit thread that alleges that fun scrubs have been banned at both Canberra Hospitals, with nursing staff required to wear plain navy scrubs. There are no official uniform navy scrubs, and staff have to provide their own uniform.

If true, this is a major blow to both staff and patient morale.

Kristen and Nige discussed this on Mix 106.3 this morning.

UPDATE: CHS have provided us with the following statement.

·         Canberra Health Services (CHS) recently reminded nursing and midwifery staff about existing uniform and work attire expectations; these have been in place for some time.

·         CHS provides approved uniforms to ensure staff meet safety and infection‑prevention requirements and maintain a professional clinical environment.

·         While colourful or non‑CHS scrubs are not part of the standard uniform, they may still be worn where there is an approved local agreement in place.
