The festive season can be a time of joy, but for many, it’s a period marked by hardship and struggle. Kati Reeves, Emergency Helpline Coordinator at Vinnies, knows this all too well.

“We’re receiving up to 160 calls a day,” Kati shares. “People who have been doing it tough all year find Christmas especially challenging. Families, individuals—everyone is feeling the pinch with the cost of living soaring.”

From those unable to afford a Christmas meal to people spending the season completely alone, the stories are heartbreaking. “We have people calling in tears,” Kati says. “But that’s what we’re here for—we’re here to help.”

The need is immense, but Canberra is stepping up. Wilko & Courts from Hit104.7 have been rallying support. The duo donned over 20 layers of clothing, peeling off one layer for every $100 donated to Vinnies on Friday morning.

The effort has not only raised much-needed funds but also highlighted how tough this Christmas is for many Canberrans.

If you can, please help support Vinnies this festive season. Even a small contribution can make a huge difference to someone in need. Donations can be made at wilkoandcourts.com/donate.
