It’s one of the most loved venues in Canberra and 18 months on from its shock closure, Pialligo Estate will, once again, welcome patrons back on to its picturesque grounds.
A partnership between restaurateur Anthony Whitehouse and property tycoon Tony
Denny will see the site retain its name due to its affinity with Canberrans but promises to bring a
whole new experience to the Canberra restaurant and events scene.
Whitehouse has a long and distinguished history as a restaurateur extending back to the early 90’s in the United Kingdom. However, in 2011 Whitehouse and his family made the move Down Under and not long after that, fell in love with the Canberra region after being awarded the contract for the Australian War Memorial.
“Running the beloved Poppy’s Cafe alongside the event catering within the memorial, I built a connection with the region that led me to seek out other projects here.”
“Over the years we’ve run Olleyville at the Shaw Winery Estate, Westering at the Lake George Winery and the Gundaroo Inn, It’s a vibrant city that in the last decade has built a dining scene that I’m excited to have the opportunity to be a part of.”
Over the coming weeks, Anthony and Tony will be assembling their team for Pialligo Estate which will bring together the best of the best from both the Canberra hospitality space and a few surprises from a little further afield – so watch this space.
