Three new venues are set to transform Civic’s iconic Sydney Building on the corner where the old Zambreros and Pancake Parlour once stood.

The location, which has remained dormant for years, will soon be home to Italian restaurant, a sandwich deli and a late-night rock dance-club.

Taking centre stage on the ground floor will be the Bada Bing restaurant, which is set to boast a nostalgic and warm fit out, prominent bar area and a versatile private dining room.

The second, known as Al’s Deli hopes to transform week-day lunches in the city and make a day in the office seem much more appealing than working from home.

With a focus on quality ingredients, this new space will be serving up made to order deliciousness as well a quick premade sambo to go.

The third and final spot has been named Fun Time Pony promising to bring big name bands to Canberra.

The subterranean hideaway relies on audacious finishes to create an immersive atmosphere, the vibe: dark, grungy, and untamed where you’re more than welcome to boogie until the lights comes on.

But who is undertaking such an ambitious project right in the heart of Civic I hear you asking?

It’s the Rabble Group, which if you’ve never heard of them, you’ve definitely visited one of their other venues.

They’re the same group that have already brought us Braddon’s hugely successful People’s Pub – Assembly and the fine dining experience that is Corella.

Rabble Group Founder, Wes Heincke, says he’s excited to see such a historic part of the Canberra CBD brought back to life.

“We wanted to do something meaningful to recapture the essence of this iconic area.”

“While we’re keeping some elements under wraps to maintain an air of anticipation, we’ve had a lot of fun with each concept and we’re thrilled to share a glimpse of what’s in store.”

It’s expected the new venues will open their doors to visitors in November.
