Ever fancied yourself a Zookeeper?

Maybe you’d love to feed the giraffe’s on a daily basis, attend to the zebras, or check in with the otters.

Every Year on October 4, zoos across the world celebrate International Zookeeper Day.

The day was chosen in honour of St Francis of Assissi, who advocated that it was the duty of all people to protect and enjoy nature.

Here in Canberra, the day is also celebrated at the National Zoo and Aquarium.

They recognize the valuable contribution they make, passionately devoting their lives to saving species by way of conservation, breeding programs, education outreach and animal research.

Zookeepers teach others the importance of caring for all creatures, great and small, all while making sure the animals are cared for.

Hit 104.7’s Breakfast Show ‘Ned & Josh’ were put through their paces with the team from Canberra’s Zoo.
