Canberra Asked To Toss A Teddy For Local Kids
Canberrans are being asked to toss a teddy for a good cause this weekend, with the Canberra Brave launching their first-ever Teddy Bear Toss at AIS Arena. Fans heading along to Sunday’s clash against the Sydney Bears are encouraged to bring a new teddy to the game.
When the Brave score their first goal, supporters will throw their bears onto the ice in a colourful moment that’s as much about community as it is sport. The tradition is popular in ice hockey leagues around the world and is now coming to Canberra for the first time.
All donated bears will go to local organisations including Barnardos Canberra, Roundabout Canberra and the Canberra Hospital Foundation, helping support children in foster care, families doing it tough and young patients in hospital.
