Diesel Reveals The Wackiest Song Request from His New Tour
Mark Lizotte, better known as Diesel, is handing the setlist over to the fans for his By Request tour, and it sounds like audiences are taking full advantage. Speaking with Larry, Diesel said the format lets fans “shape” the show, giving him the chance to dive into the singles people love, the “nooks and crannies” of his catalogue, and even a few covers along the way.
The tour’s request system even comes with a food-themed twist, with songs grouped into categories like “signature dishes,” “specials of the day” and “fusion cuisine.” But when Larry asked about the weirdest request so far, Diesel revealed one that might not make it to the stage: the theme from Cats. He admits he’s not exactly well-versed in Andrew Lloyd Webber, but says any cover he does take on will inevitably come out sounding like him.
The By Request tour comes to The Q (Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre) on Friday, 25 September 2026 at 7pm, with tickets on sale now. Fans can submit song requests through Diesel’s website, and requests need to be in by 5pm on the Wednesday before the show to make the official shortlist. Hear the full chat with Diesel in the audio above, including the possible “sorbet” side project that came up when Larry asked whether this could lead to a covers album.
