Two Canberra bars have picked up bragging rights at the Australian Bar Awards held in Sydney on Wednesday night.

Civic’s Bar Rochford was named the ACT Bar of the Year.

Hidden away in the Melbourne Building, Bar Rochford is a wine and cocktail bar that promises it’s all about ‘fine food, exciting wine producers and good jams’.

Braddon’s Volstead Repeal was also named the ACT’s Cocktail Bar of the Year.

Tucked away behind the hustle and Bustle of Braddon’s busy streets, Volstead Repeal is a cosy and intimate venue which pays tribute to the years that followed the Repeal of the Volstead Act, which prohibited the production, and sale of alcohol in the US.

It promises to deliver ‘balanced, flavoursome food, exceptional drinks, and fine whisky, in a fun and welcoming environment’.
